Donald Trump’s popularity ‘at an all time high’ after second Time honour: ‘An unprecedented honeymoon period!’
Donald Trump’s popularity has reached unprecedented heights as he secures Time magazine’s Person of the Year recognition for the second time, according to US commentator Nelson Aspen.
Speaking to GB News, Aspen highlighted Trump’s “unprecedented honeymoon period”, just over a month before his official inauguration.
“Trump has more than a month to go before his inauguration, and yet he is enjoying an unprecedented honeymoon phase. His popularity, the optimism is at an all-time high,” Aspen said.
The incoming US president previously graced Time’s cover as Person of the Year in 2016, following his first election victory.
The contenders for this year’s honour included the Princess of Wales, tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, and political figures Kamala Harris and Benjamin Netanyahu.
However, Aspen claimed that it was “unquestionably going to be Trump’s year”.
Trump’s appearance at the New York Stock Exchange following the announcement proved to be a significant moment in his career, as described by Aspen.
“For a finance guy, for a New Yorker, it was really the ultimate moment for him to ring the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange,” Aspen told GB News.
“I can’t help but think that Donald Trump must have been thinking of himself growing up, starting out in New York City and his dreams of becoming a mogul,” Aspen reflected.

The commentator noted Trump’s optimistic outlook for the future.
“He really does have great optimism for the next four years, after unquestionably a difficult past four years under the Biden administration,” he added.
Turning the discussion to Joe Biden’s latest move ahead of the end of his presidential tenure, Aspen addressed Biden’s recent wave of pardons, describing it as “historic”.
“Nearly 1500 people were granted clemency, 39 were granted pardons,” he told GB News.
“After he pardoned his own son, Hunter Biden, after months of looking Americans ostensibly in the eye and lying to us, saying he wouldn’t pardon his son. A lot of people are calling this a slap in the face and abuse of power,” Aspen explained.
He warned of potential implications for future presidencies.
Aspen warned: “The scary thing about this is he still has more than a month to go. He could be doing pardons every day.
“It does set a dangerous precedent for future presidents. However, I’m sure Donald Trump is salivating at the very thought that he can go in on day one and start doing whatever he wants. He could pardon all the January 6th people, he could preemptively pardon himself.
“And this is the concern, especially with Biden now, he could preemptively pardon Hillary Clinton or Liz Cheney or Doctor Fauci or anybody he suspects might get into future trouble. It’s a dangerous precedent.”
