British Airways brings back routes from the UK to an Asian holiday hotspot for the first time in 4 years
British Airways has resumed flights to Bangkok after a four-year hiatus, with the first aircraft touching down at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday.
The service, which departed from London Gatwick on Monday evening, marks the airline’s return to Thailand since 2020.
Initially operating three times a week, the frequency will increase to five weekly flights in January and February 2025, before settling at four times weekly in March 2025.
Passengers can choose from three cabin classes: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class). Return fares start from £718.
British Airways has expanded its codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways, offering seamless connections to five popular holiday destinations from Bangkok.
Travellers can now easily reach the idyllic islands of Koh Samui and Phuket, known for their turquoise waters.
For those interested in cultural experiences, flights to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand provide access to picturesque mountain views and historical temples.
The partnership also extends to Cambodia, with connections available to the capital city of Phnom Penh and the northwestern resort town of Siem Reap.
This expanded network enhances British Airways’ reach in Southeast Asia, providing more options for UK travellers exploring the region.
British Airways chief planning and strategy officer Neil Chernoff said: “We know that Bangkok has been a highly anticipated route restart for our customers, so we are thrilled to see it firmly back on our global route map.
“Not only does Bangkok itself have so much to offer our leisure customers, but it is a gateway to some of the most beautiful parts of Southeast Asia and we are proud to make these more accessible to the UK market.”
Director of UK, Ireland & South Africa, Tourism Authority of Thailand Sadudee Sangnil added: “It is great to welcome British Airways back to Thailand, and just in time for the peak season.
“With so much to experience across Thailand, the addition of these flights means we can welcome more people, seeking winter sun, to experience Thailand’s warmth, beauty, and culture.
“Connectivity to popular hubs such as Phuket is fantastic but we also welcome visitors to explore beyond and discover local communities, national parks and lesser-known beaches. Chiang Mai, which has quickly recovered from recent floods, is also welcoming travellers again.”
