Boy George ‘cannot manage money’ as Anne Diamond expresses fears after Culture Club star’s ‘rotten’ career blow

GB News presenter Anne Diamond has expressed sympathy for Boy George’s current financial troubles, describing him as “a lovely guy” and “so talented”.

Speaking on GB News, Anne questioned the singer’s financial management, stating: “Doesn’t it just show that some people who make a lot of money and are very successful at one point in their lives, they can’t manage the money?”

“He made so much money. If he just invested it properly… what a shame,” she added.

The presenter lamented the situation as “a rotten thing” for the Culture Club star, whilst noting his personal qualities.

“He’s such a nice person,” Anne said, reflecting on the severity of his current predicament.

Boy George faces losing the trademark to his stage name after his band Culture Club accumulated £12 million in debt.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

The Culture Club frontman, 63, born George O’Dowd, trademarked his name in 2014, but documents show the license expired in December 2024.

The protection rights for the band name also reportedly ran out late last year, with both potentially being transferred to a finance company.

The band’s iconic back catalogue, including hits like Karma Chameleon and It’s a Miracle, is now at the centre of a legal battle.

These classic tracks could be sold to a company specifically focused on profiting from vintage music.

The crisis emerged after the collapse of the band’s showbiz company, threatening Boy George’s control over his own stage identity.

The company managing Culture Club’s gig earnings, Mispocha Touring, collapsed in 2023 under the leadership of George and bandmates Mikey Craig and Roy Hay.

A report revealed the company owed £1.37 million to media finance specialist MEP Capital.

Failure to repay this debt could result in the band losing rights to their name, Boy George’s trademark, and their back catalogue.

The majority of the band’s £12 million debt is owed to US concert promoter Live Nation.

Administrators have implemented a strict repayment schedule, requiring £500,000 every six months until December 2027.

The financial pressure has forced the band to explore various revenue streams to meet these obligations.

In response to these financial pressures, Boy George has pursued various income streams.

The singer joined personalised video message platform Cameo, charging over £320 per clip.

He recently headlined Australia’s Timeless Summer Tour, performing at three venues across the country in January 2025.

The tour saw him share billing with other ’80s stars including Bonnie Tyler and Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley.

Performances took place at Roachford Wines in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, Hope Estate in New South Wales, and Stansdtone Point Hotel in Queensland.

Reports also indicate he is renting out his Hampstead home in north London to generate additional income.

This follows his 2022 appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which was reportedly motivated by financial considerations.
