At least 17 people missing as tourist boat sinks off the coast of Egypt

Over a dozen people are missing after a tourist boat sank off the coast of Egypt

The boat, named Sea Story was carrying 31 tourists of various nationalities and 14 crew members.

Authorities have said 28 people have been rescued but 17 others are missing.

A stress signal was received at 5:30am local time from the ship which left port on Saturday for a diving trip.

The survivors were found in the Wadi el-Gemal area south of Marsa Alam. They are reportedly receiving the necessary medical care.

Major Maj-Gen Amr Hanafi of The Red Sea Governorate said the Egyptian Navy warship El Fateh and military aircraft were increasing efforts to locating the missing passengers.
