‘If you see them buy them!’ Brits scramble to buy bananas as UK faces major shortage
UK supermarkets are facing a banana shortage with empty shelves reported at Tesco and M&S stores across the country.
The shortage has been caused by tropical storms in the Pacific disrupting shipments.
Customers have shared images on social media of empty shelves with notices explaining the delays.

Emma Woolf said: “I’m astonished to see that you guys have bananas aplenty because there has been a national shortage of bananas.
“Which I find odd because I have revealed exclusively that I’ve eaten a banana in the last week or so. I mean. I’ve got one in my bag right now.”
She added: “If you see bananas buy them.”
