Man, 41, and toddler, 2, stabbed to death in horror knife attack – two others injured
Two people have been killed and two others injured in a knife attack at a park in southern Germany today.
A two-year-old boy and a 41-year-old man were killed in the incident in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, police said.
The attack occurred in the city’s Schoental Park, with authorities responding to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
A 28-year-old Afghan national was arrested at the scene following the attack, authorities confirmed.
Police said the motive for the attack remains unclear but stated it was not terrorism-related.
The suspect was detained in the English-style garden with officers quickly responding to the scene.
The attack occurred around 10.45am close to Aschaffenburg’s city centre.
The park, known locally as Schöntal, is located in Bavaria’s Lower Franconia administrative district, near the state border with Hesse.

Rail traffic in Aschaffenburg was temporarily suspended after reports the suspect attempted to flee across railway tracks.
Deutsche Bahn confirmed trains to and from the city were being held back following the incident.
Local police cordoned off the crime scene as part of their response to the attack.
Police confirmed there was no indication of additional suspects following the attack.
Authorities posted on social media platform X that there was no ongoing danger to the public.
