Robert Jenrick delivers hilarious alternative Christmas message before paying heartfelt tribute to local charity
Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick has delivered an alternative Christmas message and paid a heartfelt tribute to a charity in his Newark constituency.
Jenrick, who missed out to Kemi Badenoch in the 2024 Tory leadership race, recorded a video in his home constituency on December 12.
The former Immigration Minister is initially filmed engaging in a hilarious exchange with his cameraman Alex, while mocking the often cheesy festive messages sent out by politicians.
Opening his message, Jenrick said: “It’s the night before Christmas.”
“No, it’s not,” the off-screen cameraman replied.
“Okay,” Jenrick continued. “It’s a few days before Christmas.”
Interupting the Shadow Justice Secretary again, the cameraman chimed: “December 12.”
“Shut up, Alex,” a comically aggravated Jenrick replied.

Continuing his alternative festive message, Jenrick said: “After a momentous year, I’ve come home to Newark to wish all of my constituents a very Merry Christmas.”
The Newark MP jokingly shared some hilarious interactions with Newark residents whilst out door-knocking.
Responding to Jenrick revealing who he was, a woman simply asked: “Who?”
A young boy also mocked Jenrick for missing out on becoming Tory leader.
“I think it’s that person who tried to run for the Conservatives,” he said.
Taking a much more serious tone, Jenrick went on to highlight efforts taken by charity Newark Round Table.
Jenrick explained: “I didn’t want to do another cheesy politician’s Christmas video this time. They look fake and they never work, as you can see.
“So, I wanted to show you a local charity here in Newark that is really bringing the spirit of Christmas to people’s homes.”
Volunteers from Newark Round Table have been credited for bringing Christmas joy to the local community by handing out gifts and raising thousands of pounds every year.
The charity has been known to help a number of organisations, including Newark’s Women’s Refuge and Children in Need.
Concluding his message, Jenrick added: “That’s Newark Round Table. Great people. They do that every year. So, all I’ve got to say is Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”
Jenrick’s festive message comes just after the Shadow Justice Secretary was unveiled as a new addition to the GB News family.
The Newark MP will record a series of episodes of ‘Common Sense with Robert Jenrick’.
Jenrick’s debut appearance exposed the pressures facing the police as Britain’s career criminals take over the streets.
