Urgent search launched as British woman disappears on Caribbean island after posting picture on holiday
A British woman has vanished after attending a street party in St Lucia, sparking an urgent police search across the Caribbean island.
Jemima Colenso, 33, was last seen at the Friday Night street party in Gros Islet at approximately 11.25 pm on December 20.
Police are working “around the clock” to locate the Somerset woman, pictured aboard a yacht while abroad.
The disappearance occurred during the world-famous street celebration, which is known for attracting tourists from across the globe to the island.
Colenso had been staying aboard a vessel called Lola, moored at the Rodney Bay Marina in the north of St Lucia.
When last seen, she was wearing a brown orange trouser suit, with her last social media activity showing her smiling at the wheel of a yacht in what appeared to be a glamorous location.
The 33-year-old had recently made significant changes to her life, having operated a pottery business in Somerset before embarking on her sailing adventure.
She held a closing down sale of her pottery designs and creations in November, ahead of what she described as “going sailing”.

A local vendor, who has been selling food and drinks at the street party for 25 years, expressed concern about the disappearance.
“People come from all over the world to celebrate and we don’t expect them to go missing. Everyone comes here to have a good time and to be merry,” they said.
“I hope this young lady is found soon so we don’t have to worry. The police have always done a good job in keeping everyone safe and protected in this town.”
Police in Castries are urgently seeking information about Colenso’s whereabouts.
“We are appealing for any information revellers at the street party may have on this woman. She has gone missing and we need to find her and to locate her,” a police source from the capital said.
The British national’s social media showcases her artistic work, with most of her posts featuring pottery designs and creations she sold through her business.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to her disappearance from the popular street celebration.
