Neo-Nazi planned terrorist attack at London law firm to ‘intimidate’ immigrants but was thwarted by brave receptionist who restrained him

A far-right extremist planned a terror attack at a London law firm “to intimidate immigrants,” however he was courageously stopped by the receptionist.

Cavan Medlock, 32, from Harrow, northwest London, appeared at Kingston crown court where he was found to have committed the act of making a threat to kill and the preparation of terrorist acts.

This came after the 32-year-old, a self-identified Nazi, plotted an attack on solicitor Toufique Hossain of Duncan Lewis solicitors in Harrow.

Shocking CCTV footage from within the office shows the man arriving holding a six-inch knife before being tackled by the receptionist in a long struggle.

Medlock is seen throwing punches at the receptionist before he is eventually disarmed and other staff arrive to detain him.

The extremist had demanded to see Hossain and admitted he was there to kill him.

He reportedly said “unfortunately I didn’t finish the job.”

Commander Helen Flanagan from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command said Medlock’s rucksack contained a knife, handcuffs, gaffer tape and two large flags “demonstrating extreme right-wing terrorist ideology.”

An investigation also uncovered a copy of Mein Kampf at his home address.

Medlock had earlier read an article on his phone quoting Hossain, researched the office location and set in motion his attack plan.

Hossain had been previously named in the press as a lawyer representing asylum seekers who had been due for deportation.

The attempted terror attack happened on September 7, 2020, after then-Home Secretary Priti Patel publicly came after “activist lawyers” who she said were frustrating the removal of failed asylum seekers from the UK.

Commander Flanagan said: “Our investigation uncovered how Medlock had planned this attack and wanted to intimidate the public, particularly anyone who might be regarded as immigrants.

“He was prevented in carrying out his plan thanks to the extraordinarily brave actions of a receptionist, who managed to disarm him of a large knife.”

She added: “It is clear from what he said in police interviews, Medlock wanted to provide a ‘rallying cry’ to inspire other extreme right-wing terrorists. I’m glad that a jury has now found the facts of this case proven.”

Medlock is due to be sentenced tomorrow.
