Woman left dog attack victim ‘for dead’ after pet mauled him in woods
A man was left “for dead” in the woods after being savagely attacked by a Rottweiler-type dog in Sevenoaks, Kent.
Nick Evans, 31, was working on privately owned land when the incident occurred, leaving him with severe injuries to his hip, leg and wrist.
The attack has left Evans with no feeling in one of his hands and unable to work.
The bike trail maintenance worker of 13 years was approached by the dog after its owner lost control of the animal whilst walking through the area.
“I was there doing some maintenance and a lady came walking by with a Rottweiler-type dog that wasn’t muzzled and she didn’t realise I was there,” Evans said.
He explained that after greeting the owner, the dog broke free from its short lead.
“I popped up to say hello and the dog broke free from her grip. It sniffed around me and I asked if it was safe and she told me not to touch him,” he said.
Evans backed up against a tree before the dog launched its attack.

“It took a chunk out of my hip and chunks out of my leg, hand and wrist,” he recalled.
After screaming and wrestling with the dog, Evans watched as the owner finally restrained her pet.
The woman then jumped over a wire fence, abandoning him as he lay bleeding on the ground.
His partner Romi Kite, who was working at nearby stables, heard the screams and rushed to help.
“The woman left him to bleed out in the woods and pretty much left him for dead,” Kite said.
When the couple tried to follow the owner to get her details, she threatened to set the dog on Evans again if he didn’t leave her alone.
“At this point, I was bleeding so much and we had to go to the hospital,” he said.
Evans was rushed to Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington’s A&E department due to the severity of his injuries.
The following morning, he was transferred to Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for trauma plastic surgery.
The attack left him unable to perform basic tasks, like cooking, shower or even dressing himself.
Doctors estimate a three-month healing period, though full feeling could take up to a year to return.
“All my hobbies involve tools. I do car mechanics and restore classic cars as a hobby so I can’t do any of that,” he added.
Police confirmed they are investigating the attack, which occurred just after 4pm on October 30 in the Knockholt area.
A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
