European city famed for its breathtaking backdrops ranked among best destinations to visit in autumn
As autumn paints Europe in vibrant hues, Prague has been recognised as one of the continent’s most picturesque cities for the season alongside popular destinations like Paris, London, and Rome.
According to a study conducted by long-haul travel specialists Travelbag, the Czech capital ranked seventh among the most beautiful European cities to visit in autumn, supported by an analysis of Instagram hashtag usage and Google search volume.
With 10,833 Instagram posts tagged under #autumninprague, the Czech capital showcases its stunning architecture framed by the warm colours of fall.
The city’s historic sites, such as Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, offer breathtaking backdrops that attract both local photographers and international travellers as the leaves change colour.
Prague’s unique charm during the colder months is enhanced by its outdoor cafés and markets, where visitors can enjoy traditional Czech pastries and warm beverages including mulled wine and hot cocoa.
The atmosphere also comes to life through outdoor cultural events, including concerts and exhibitions that celebrate the autumn spirit.
Other cities that made the list include Rome, Berlin, and Milan, which also attract significant attention for their autumn beauty.
The study revealed that London tops the list as the most ‘Instagrammed’ autumn destination in Europe, with 89,749 posts, followed closely by Paris with 69,253 posts.

The city garners approximately 880 monthly searches for autumn in Prague, reflecting a growing curiosity among travellers looking for seasonal experiences.
In terms of Google search volume, only London, Paris, and Amsterdam see more “autumn in…” searches than the Czech capital, with Prague coming in fourth among all European destinations.
While Prague holds appeal as one of Europe’s most popular travel destinations year-round, its stunning landscapes adorned in autumn foliage add a special element of seasonal attraction.
