British Airways launches route from Heathrow to European capital for first time since 2013
British Airways has announced the launch of a new route from London Heathrow to Tbilisi, Georgia, set to commence in 2025.
The service will operate four times per week starting on March 30, offering travellers a direct link between the two capital cities.
Passengers from eight UK airports, including Edinburgh, Belfast, Manchester, and Newcastle, will be able to connect seamlessly to Tbilisi via Heathrow on a single ticket.
The flight timings have been optimised to facilitate connections to other services from Heathrow, particularly to New York and European destinations not directly served from Georgia, such as Madrid and Barcelona.
Georgia, situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, boasts a rich tapestry of history and culture.
The country is renowned for its 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition, a cornerstone of Georgian heritage.
Tbilisi, the capital, charms visitors with its cobbled streets, diverse architecture, and culinary delights influenced by its unique geographical position.
The city’s historic centre offers a blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy.
Beyond Tbilisi, adventurers can explore the canyons and caves near Kutaisi, as well as numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites.
With its picturesque scenery and the majestic Caucasus Mountains to the north, Georgia promises a captivating experience for travellers seeking both cultural immersion and natural beauty.
British Airways will offer two cabin classes on the new route: Club Europe (business class) and Euro Traveller (economy).
Euro Traveller passengers will receive complimentary drinks and snacks, while Club Europe customers enjoy additional perks such as lounge access and priority boarding.
British Airways’ chief planning and strategy officer Neil Chernoff said: “We’re delighted to welcome Tbilisi back into our route network, after our last scheduled service in 2013.
